Anybody have corbeau forza seat?
I was thinking about ordering a corbeau forza drivers seat with the mounting brackets/slider. I am a little concerned about the height as it's a bit tight with my helmet on right now. Are there better options for a lightweight, budget seat that will be easy to install?
My assumption has been that the aftermarket sports seats sit lower than the stockers, but I don't know that for a fact. Please let me / us know otherwise before we spend the money on sports seats.
Depending on if this is a permanent addition to your car, you can get the simple Kirkey aluminum racing seat for the lightest, easiest to install option. But it is certainly not comfortable for daily driving nor does it look especially good.

aftermarket seats...
I've seen many 3rd Gen RX-7s W/big name seats in them (MOMO, Sparco, Recaro, etc.)
All were a very tight fit. Most were in ONE fixed position due to the company not making an adjustable rail kit that would fit a 3rd gen RX-7.
You need to measure your car then get the company's seat measurements then ASK the company, not a dealer, about your car and their seats.

I found this thread in the racecar section, for anybody who had the same questionshttps://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...hlight=corbeau
It sounds like the forza will fit and will gain headroom, so it may be worth a try.

Spoke with Jason at RX7Store.net, who sells some Sparco seats now. He says the Evo and Rev should fit. In fact, he says he is able to mount them on stock rails with some fudging of the mounting holes (i.e. requiring no additional brackets or hacks) and can get some fore/aft movement on the tracks. As a side note, the side mount seats are adjustable for height and angle. Yes, the seats make contact with the door, but "not a big deal".
Not trying to put Jason on the spot, but it was nice to talk with someone who actually is doing this and can verify the fact that it can work. I'd suggest contacting him for further details (and then give him your business!)

The Corbeau Forza, A4, and CR-1 fit in the FD, but the Corbeau brackets make the seats sit higher than stock, at least with the A4 and CR-1.
The Forza is not, in any way, a comfortable or nice looking seat. It is a cheap racing seat, and that's about it. Not only that, but I found the CR-1 to be more supportive, much more comfortable, and much better looking.

I had installed the Forza seats in my car with the Corbeau sliding brackets, and gained minimal headroom, so I sold them and put the stockers back in. The rails raised the seats, and given the fixed incline, I wasn't able to lower myself. The seats were also very uncomfortable. If you're looking for a streetable seat, I would not get the Forza. If you're looking for a hardcore track seats, then I would look into maybe a Kirkey or something of that sort.
I have installed some tenzo r rally buckets in mine. first I used the slider rails that came on them (universal) I used to have them in my Integra. when I ordered them for my acura I had custom brackets that attached to the sliders and then bolted in the stock pattern. they sat a little high for me in the acura, but that was due to the custom bracket and slider being about 6 inches high until the bottom of the seat. anyway I took them out of the acura, disassembled the custom bracket and left the sliders on. sat them in the FD and they fit to where the mounting brakets for the sliders could be screwed in to the cross hump that the stock seat sits on ( hard to explain) I can get some pics. but I drilled a hole right next to the holes for the front bolts of the stock seats and but a bolt through that went into the bolt hole of the sliders and tightened it up. the back mounting holes of the sliders I just bend them down so they laid flat with the floor and bolted them down. walla. they slide and are snug and straight. the height is about the same as stock. they do hit the door a little but they fit nice. I got lucky. later on I removed the stock rails on the FD seats and figured I could just make a piece that bolts to the stock rails and then bolts to the bottom of the rally seat. sits even better and I know they are more secure than the first method. so with a little custom work you can do a lot. hope this helps and I will include some more pics later.
here is one of the aftermarket seat rails. it is the right side seat rail these attach to the seat and the to the floor(red circles). see how I bent the rear bracket fastener so it will go into the floor(bracket mounts in red).the yellow lines is where they attach to the bottom of the seat. I hope this makes sense.
Thanks for the replies. I just sat in a friends car who has the forza and it was not something I would want to sit in on a regular basis. The cr1 looks like a much nicer alternative.
Rynberg- how did you mount the cr1's?

At this point, I'm waiting until a later stage and will just get some Recaro SPGs (from Recaro Japan, the shoulders are narrower). They cost more but they fit and they are fantastic seats.
In any case, the stock seats look good and are plenty supportive for street driving. The only reason I would consider aftermarket seats is for track use -- and the base/R1 cloth seats are probably good enough for that. But I have the leather seats and they are slippery....
For track driving, I re-leathered my seats so that the center sections were suede (originally leather since I had a tan touring), which helped quite a bit, and then I used a secondary strap to hold my waist down during hot laps. Then they just came out with that CG-lock, which essentially does the same thing. For those of you guys that are into track driving but don't want to go through the hassle of a harness, I would highly recommend the cg-lock.
