there's someone who swears that he knows someone with a non-turbo FD

of course I'm pretty sure there were none made for here, but just wondering

It's possible he has an FD with another motor transplanted in. But a 13B-REW is twin-turbo by definition.

Mazda never made any FDs without the twin turbo engine.

But, there are a few (maybe more?) road race cars that have FD bodies and NA motors. They came with the twin turbo from the factory, but they were converted to NA during the build-up for racing.
