Any good "Rotary Builder" handbooks?

Hi everybody,

I was just wondering if there are any good books on how to build Rotarys, The FD to be specific. Also a book with good info on single turbo's is a plus, cause I plan on going that route.

I already have Mike Ancas' "Mazda RX-7 performance handbook", and it just has basic info.

BTW I dont have an FD (yet), but I'm trying to read up on them as much as possible.

TIA

I don't have your answer, but thanks for the Ancas tip. I'll be getting and reading that. Please post any other manual like resources you find. I just bought my "dream"FD and NOW i'm cruising to find all the help I can get! Sam

Hey, I searched the web last night and I found this book on www. mazdatrix.com

It's titled "How to modify your RX-7", check it out.

Well just a comment about Mike Ancas's book. I didn't find it terribly useful. It was basically, keep a budget, don't go overboard, use common sense, and keep a level head. Which most people need to learn first and it sounds like you already are there.

I recommend reading through this archive, it's probably more useful than most books you will find.

I can recomend buying the Mazda RX7 Performace Handbook off Amazon, it's like $15 and is a great reader.

i would say there is plenty of info on here about what you need to know. plus your book doesnt talk back to you if you dont understand something. there are plenty of people on here to help you.
if you are talking about building a block from the ground up, you may want to check out a video that is out about building a motor. i think i saw it from atkins. there is a website for it, and if i remember corectly, you can pay for it via paypal. it is just building the motor though. both books mentioned prior are also good books. i will post a list of every book about the rotary for you when i get home

Hi Everybody,

I wanted to know if I could see if you guys have heard of these books.

"Rotary Engine" by Kenichi Yamamoto

"The Racing Beat Catalog"

I was originally looking for something that would show me all the details of how the rotary engine works. somebody recently gave this website out in the lounge and it was very helpful (for me anyways).

The factory service manual. It also makes a very good bathroom reading.

"Rotary Engine" by Kenichi Yamamoto is an out-of-print collector's book. It does an excellent job discussing the engineering and testing that went into designing and developing the rotary engine. Almost textbook like in discussion and detail.

I'm actually looking for a book that is similar to the website I listed previously "ROTARYILLUSTREATED" that site had a lot of good info, but I wanted something that I can read over and over again without having to go online.

Also a book with a lot of advanced aftermarket "how-to's" like how to install and tune an Apexi PFC, or how to install and tune for a single turbo or something.

The Apexi PDF instructions are nice but some of the terminology is just over my head.
