Any FD owners with Water Injection tune for it?

Just wondering if any one has been able to lean out their maps and "safely" run with water injection versus just using it as detonation supression.

HP numbers would also be nice, if available.

I know of at least one or two people who have. More info on www.waterinjection.info forums: http://www.aquamist.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=110

A pie-in-the-sky project of mine someday would involve replacing the intercooler with a temperature controlled water-injection setup. First I need an ECU...

From what I understand.

You can squeeze out more HP leaning out your maps using waterinjection.
BUT you run a risk of blowing your motor.. " IF " your water injection
malfunctions under boost..

Which water injection are you using?? aquamist or Zerobangers DIY?

yea tuning for water injection is tricky. I never recommend it, yet I see the value in doing it. Someday I would like to replace my intercooler with just the water injection system. My Kit will make it practicle to do so with the new modules I've added.

The water pressure sensor has tested bullet proof in my testing. It is able to tell 100 pct for sure that water is injecting and it is able to tell if the nozzle is clogged. it has the abiltity to turn ON or Turn OFF any device based on the result. Right now it lights up a LED on my custom designed DIN units www.coolingmist.com/pictures/dincomplete.jpg perhaps it could be tied in to the turbo to cut the boost when water is empty or clogged.

I have been doing alot of R & D and think its really working quite nicely right now.

Zerobanger, do you not recommend tuning for it simply because if it the WI fails, you pretty much lost your motor? Or are there other reasons?

Also, have people experienced problems w/ their WI kits malfunctioning or simply not working? Ie, I'm trying to gauge how serious of a concern it really is...

Yes, I believe thats his reason, that if you'r depending on the H20 to stop your engine from knocking, and it stops getting water, then yes, its gone.

The problem with the WI kit is if you accidently use to much water (tank runs dry), a line seperates (that pump will push a small water tank empty very quickly), the filter clogs (unlikely), the nozzle clogs (unlikely, but i can see it happen before the filter clogs).

Theres a mess of things that can go wrong, besides what was listed above. And when it comes to a rotary engine, its better to be safe than extract an extra ~10-20 HP. (IMO)
I've got Zero's kit, and I love it. Everyone should get one.
