Antennae Connector Q

http://staff.kutztown.edu/tpham/images/antennae.jpg

This is the connector for the antennae to the head unit. I have an aftermarket stereo and the radio never worked when I purchased the car. It's been like this for a while.

There's a 3 conductor connector (I will fix). Does this plug into the stock head unit and is rarer among aftermarket units?

Can I just buy an adaptor to use the antennae?

Finally, what connectors do I need to connect to operate the remote antennae? There's a 0.1A and a 0.3A connector for remote ant?

Thanks, Thanh

there should be 2 leads which emerge near the passenger side footwell. one of these is the regular (mast) antenna the other is the diversity antenna (rear windshield). All you need to do is ignor the diversity lead and plug the standard antenna (it will be the larger of the 2 heads) into the back of the aftermarket head unit. Depending on the stereo you may need to make a gender changer of sorts to plug in the antenna. I made one from parts at radioshack.

Antenna just adds drag at higher speeds ... disable it!

Cool.

The diversity antennae, is that the black plug? It looks like some antennae cable, at least.

Drag? Well, I can't hear my stereo on the highway anyways, so not having a properly working radio never bothered me.

Is there a signal in the head unit to tell the antennae to go up?
