i wish i had an fd when i was 16. i am from the south side of chicago, and i went to a private school, all these guys used to roll up in there mercedes,or new suv's and i wish i had that. but in retrospect, i dont think i could have appreciated an fd that much, and probablly would have wrecked it.
you know i dont think i ever saw one fd there in the whole 18 years i lived there. i didnt see one until i moved to san diego. maybe there is a reason for that....... BECAUSE ITS STILL ******* SNOWING IN APRIL!!!! this is a summer car, move to socal and you can drive it all year . and i am not trying to be high and mighty i am only 21...hope you are ok

The funny thing is, AFTER I graduated from college, I remembered this kid from high school who got a "cool car" during our senior year, which everyone used to go crazy over. I didn't realize it was an FD till much MUCH later (didn't know about RX7s back then haha). Go figure. Turns out he's had it for a while now, he's still local, but he painted it CYM. Haven't seen it ever since, tho.

sorry to hear that madmax but glad u're ok. i can feel your pain cuz i did the same thing to my 1st gen 4 yrs. ago. i was going about 75mph and someone shortstopped on me so i changed lanes. then i overcorrected myself, spun out and hit a tree. lucky me i just had a huge bump on my head and a few scrape. what's even better i hit the tree with the rear end so everything from the seats forward i saved. still got it but i'm looking for a body to swap. but like i said. glad to hear u're ok

I still can't believe how many irresponsible more-money-than-sense parents there seem to be these days. There were plenty of rich kids at my high school, but their parents weren't stupid enough to buy them $50k cars. How are so many people getting rich while being such morons?

FDs were new when I was 16 and out of my price range. I had a FC when I was 17. It was my 1st car. I wrecked it too (being a jackass I might add). But, I purchased it with my money (3500)so it was my problem.
How the hell does a 16 year old get enough $$$$ to purchase a FD? What kind of irrisposible parent purchases a FD for a 16 year old????
1: I would never buy a kid a car. Make them work for it. 2. If I did they would get a 1992 corrola.

Yeah, what was his Job if he was only 16 bought a FD and put 20 grand of his own money into it? That's a lot of cash for a 16 year old to be making, sounds like BS to me.

I would have to agree...I won't buy my kid a car like this. They can buy it for themselves if they want, and I can help with some insurance or whatever, but I'm just now 21 and can finally afford one of these...It's way too much power for a 16 year old. Hell, it's too much power for me....but that doesn't stop me :-D

I would like the drive shaft and rear end. Also the clutch master cyl, slave cyl, and pedal assebaly if your interested pm me how much you want for each.

What they need is the car I grew up on. A 1988 Chevy Nova Hatchback, like 50hp lol, speedo ends at 85mph, but car couldn't handle past 70 (barely, at that). 3-speed auto, and is AWESOME in accidents. Huge front and rear rubber bumpers absorb impact like crazy. I slammed into the back of another car at a solid 55mph, and the other car (an old Maxima) was travelling at about 35 mph. The Maxima was totalled, the Nova took it like LIKE A CHAMP. Just needed the front corner pulled out a bit (I hit the car at an angle), new hood, grill, and bumper, and that's it. About $650 in repairs. I walked away, too -- and all that was with no ABS, no airbags, nada. Just the seatbelt. Plus, the engine is the same engine as a Corolla, so it's rock solid. I did go through a tranny or two tho, but that's prob cuz of how I drive

I don't know what car I'm on now in my driving carrier, but my first car was an '86 Chevette with MAYBE 60HP. If you got it to the top of a big hill, you might be able to hit 60MPH if you were lucky. But the car shaking would scare you enough to never do it again. Looking back, I think I was drunk and disorderly with 80HP and a three speed automatic. While I don't have kids, there is no way they will be driving anything with a 1:10 power/weight ratio!

I'm 19 and own an FD. I also started a business while in highschool. It's a corporation that creates and incubates smaller businesses (the first was a computer business) untill they are large enough to incorporate themselves, then we sell the business or reinvest the net profits into the 'umbrella' corp. It's awesome to see other people being that ambitious before 20! lol
But about your car... are you parting it out yet? And what all mods did you have?
