Another of My "Where Do These Wires Go?" Thread

I have been repairing / replacing parts of my wiring harness(es) lately and have found some more wires I need to identify and repair.

These are located on the passenger side, inside the cabin, near the ECU location. I know they are grounds but where did they go?

I am in the process of re-taping and repairing a replacement emissions harness and don't see anything on that harness that looks like these wires. Quick history on the car - a '93, had an A/T to M/T swap done before. Used to have a PowerFC but when I bought it it had a Microtech/X4 in it.

Again, any help would be appreciated. I know how important good grounds are and want to fix these if I can.

Thanks,

Jeff

I am guessing that one of the grounds is for the fan mod switch and the other I do not know -- I find it hard to believe they would have just cut the ground that runs to the ECU instead of taking the bolt out but it is possible -- did you check the wiring harness to see if the ground is still in tact?

Thanks for the replies. The replacement emissions harness I am re-taping does have a ground wire (actually two of a smaller wire size) on a ring connector that comes through the large grommet in the fire wall. Looks like it comes from somewhere on the engine side. But I don't think those wires are either of these. The wires in my photo appear to be a larger size. I will know more about that when I get all the tape, etc. off of the harness before I re-tape it.

What is the cooling fan mod? It that an aftermarket mod where you can turn the fans on via a switch? Or the mod which allows the fans to run 10 minutes or so after the engine is shut down. I don't think I have that connector.

According to the Mazda Wiring Diagram there is only one ground point shown in the general area where my wires are. Not in the same place, but probably within 12 inches (see attached image). The ground point shown in the manual is for two ground wires (going to one ring terminal) off the ECU harness. I have them on the harness I am re-building but they are smaller wires and not color coded the same as the ones in my car which were cut.

So I guess these aren't stock Mazda?

Can anyone verify that they don't have these wires?

Thanks,

Jeff

I do not have these - they could be old ground wires from a previous installation?
