Another headlight problem

first i searched, nothign seems compatable...

okay so i was driving the car back from IL.. headlights worked without a problem.. when i was in ohio the driver side headlight wont retract...

Problem:
Driver side headlight it stuck up.
When i press the retract button on the dash only the passenger side headlight goes up and down

Diagnosed...
I've been looking at the workshop manual and ive checked..
The retractable headlight relay (E1-02) in the relay box, looked fine
The Headlight relay (E1-05) in the Main Fuse Block, looked fine

Analysis:
The headlights were retracting without a problem then all of a sudden the driver side headlight wont retract.
Lights on both sides work without a problem

any suggestions? ive read check the power source to make sure its getting voltage and check the motor but im not sure how to do either...

to check the volt do i use a digital multi meter or one of those stick things that clip to a ground and you touch the connection and it lights up?

also what should i be checking with those? please be specific as im unsure of further diagnosing

You can use a multimeter or a test light.

And when you checked your relays, how do they "look" fine?

You have to add volts to it to hear a "click" to see if its opening the circuit.

How far are you, maybe i can come help you out.

I have the same problem only on pass side. off and on without warning I think it may be a wiring problem with the underhood heat. I've noticed the relays get very hot even with the rubber boot covers to shield them. I am open for advice on how to trouble shoot this

Similar problems here:

My passenger light pops up when engaging the headlights., but won't come down when tuning them off.

I checked the headlamp motors with direct power feed and then they work fine; probably a relais issue.

my driver side headlamp won't go up or down but I found some kind of a shortcut in the pop up motor. might need to replace that.

The worksshop manual mentions some kind of an ECU that controls all this, but I haven't locatee it yet. anyone got a clue?

Also, my manual pop up button does not function.
