aluminum driveshaft worth it?

if i already have a lightweight flywheel is running an aluminum driveshaft still worth it? i know the point is to get it lighter and all.. but isnt it true if the rotating mass gets too light it wont be easlily streetable etc?? i live in the midwest where its hilly in one area then flat in others so yeah.. would the driveshaft be worth it for the street?

thats what im thinking so it prob be best to keep the steel one and let it be that! no need to go that light right!

Okay I disagree. I love mine and it is rebuild-able. While I am sure the rotating mass is less, it also makes for a nice improvement in throttle response. I say it is a worth while upgrade. Less weight means a better weight to horsepower and anything you can do to reduce rotating mass is a good thing.

its not the question of goin light... its whether or not it has enough tensile strength..

I suppose you could break it if you had both the horsepower and the traction. However anything short of a full blown drag 7 it will be a noticeable improvement in the driving experience. Breakage just is not an issue

There is less driveline vibration and shock with the aluminum one and even less with a carbon fiber one........which Im selling mine next week after my G-Force tranny goes in! (carbon fiber, that is)...

+1 It should take well over 600whp to come close to damaging a aluminum shaft if it is built properly.

If you undo 4 bolts, you can take your driveshaft out. then you will see it is really light from factory.

I toss mine to friends after pretending it is insanely heavy... they freak out untill they catch it.

The money is wiser spent elsewhere.

go with a nice clutch kit and the pro-lite flywheel.

If you reduce rotating mass too much, your launches will be weak, or you will have to launch at a higher rpm increasing the risk of breaking things.... ie your differential.
