alternative to seat belts

So I just changed to R1 seats and still have the stock tan seat belts. aside from not matching, the belt buckle on the pass side seems to be from a 70s car. not to mention, stock black belts are hard to find and expensive. Is there another option that would work well in a street driven car?

OEM belts are going to be the only thing that is DOT approved and street legal as far as I know. You could always look around for Mazda OEM black belts out of a totaled car, or out of a car that someone has gutted for a race-only application. Another idea is to contact someone like japan-to-la or another importer to get used belts. Just don't forget used belts are just that...used. On the other hand, you could at least pick some up that are not 18years old out of a non-US model.

Maybe something like this, but not DOT approved:

try a wrecker or parts wanted section.

It seems like you should be able to replace the tan belt material with black, and install it in the existing mounts.

hahahaha

Seriously though, I think seat belts from like 93-99 Miata work in our cars and they look newer...It may well be any Mazda from 93-99, check a local junk yard. I mean the buckle part, not the belt.
