Alot of play in rear end *not bushings*
On my auto FD rear end (in a manual car, I wanted the 3.9 gearing) I have alot of play. It isnt the bushings, it is in the pinion I guess. You can rotate the driveshaft ALOT before it finally catches and begins to turn the wheels. Its fine after the initial catch. When you reverse, the driveshaft will move a bit, then catch and begin to spin the tires in reverse.
This leads to lots of clunking while driving as I stop, then leave a redlight and it clunks badly.(repeat for nearly every stop)
Whats up with this? Any likely candidates for problems within the rear end? Likely cost to fix it (assuming I pull the rear and take it somewhere) I'm trying to decide if I got fubar'ed when I bought this rear from maztoy and whether or not I should simply buy another rear end from somewhere else or fix this one.
Thanks!
