Alarming BANG noise
Hey all,
I have a strange problem with my [3]. Sometimes (maybe twice or three times now) when under WOT, I hear a single LOUD bang noise coming from I don't know where. It sounds like a watermelon landing on the roof, but obviously the roof is fine. So I'm thinking that the noise is coming from the trans area and just sounds like it's from the roof because the sound is bouncing back or something.
I'm not sure if it's on the shift or just at high RPM because it's not easy to reproduce. My first thoughts are the engine mounts or the PPF. Any good way to test this without just taking it all apart? It's possible that anything could be broken in the drivetrain because I've got a single turbo, etc... so I'm sure stuff is being pushed.
Thanks,
Brian

Hmm good thought, I've never checked those. I had the motor mounts out last winter and they looked OK and same for the PPF. But I've never paid any attention to the diff mounts.
