AirBag Flashes 4 times | Faulty Rear Safing Sensor?

AirBag Light Flashes 4 times = Faulty Rear Safing Sensor.

See several error lists that include this phrase, but have not found a thread detailing a resolution to this issue.

Has anyone had this error and could advise?

What is a "Rear Safing Sensor" and where might it or any of its likely faulty connections be located?

Might it be a faulty module?

Is this likely out of spec, bad, or even corrosion related? What might be the first things to check?

I can't think of anything other than age that would caused this to throw a code.

If possible, would like to track down the issue and squish the bug or fault causing this error light.

Does anyone know a bit about this issue, and could outline a plan of attack to resolve the issue?

Get 4 blinks of the AirBag light, pause and repeat

maybe it's the abs sensor in one of the rear hubs?

This is from the 94 Body Elec Manual...Can't remember if the 93 is different besides the lack of passenger airbag.

Hi, apologies for the delayed responses, been out having fun and just forgot to check back on the thread I posted.... thank you for the responses!

May I ask why you would deduce it might be a rear ABS sensor so I can understand how that might influence the fault error code I see?

Will poke around and try the service manual tests and see if I can resolve anything.

Possible anyone has seen an error like this, and might have feedback on what went wrong and your resolution?

You mentioned "rear stafing sensor" so I assumed you had done some troubleshooting to determine it was the rear sensor as opposed to one of the fronts. You can probably ignore me and focus on the FSM sheets that were kindly posted.

The safing sensor is just another redundant contact switch for redundancy to reduce unintended airbag release for redundancy . This is a link which mentions the location of the rear safing sensor and how to test. https://www.rotaryheads.com/PDF/3rd_...Electrical.pdf

3) If there is no continuity, go to step 4). If there is
continuity, check continuity between ground and terminals 2L (Orange
wire) and 2K (Light Green wire) of diagnostic module connector. If
there is continuity in each case, replace diagnostic module.
4) Disconnect rear safing sensor connector. Check for
continuity between terminals "A" and "B" of rear safing sensor
connector. See Fig. 6. If there is no continuity, replace rear safing
sensor.
5) If there is continuity, check for continuity between
terminals "C" and "D" of rear safing sensor connector. If there is no
continuity, replace rear safing sensor. If there is continuity,
replace wiring harness.
