The FD fuel injection system is of the "speed-density" type, which means it just measures RPM, pressure, and temperature, and then looks up an injector pulse width in a map. It does not actually measure the amount of air that flows through the system. The flow at various input values is baked into the fuel maps. This is why you need to retune the fuel maps when you change the flow of the system.
