Question Air filter Installation??

Hello guys/gals, I have a pod K&N air filter I want to install into my s7 RX7, how do I go about installing it? There seems to be heaps of hoses that I don't know what they do?? Can someone explain to me how I go about doing it please??? Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Buy a Mazda manual and read it. It shows and tells how to do almost everything.
Show us some initiative.

It's a bitch, isn't it? I've done it several times now, so it gets a little easier each time. I'll give you a couple of tips.

First, you'll need a vise grip pliers...a good hefty one....to compress those spring clips that hold on the hoses. Compress the spring clips with pliers, set the pliers on lock, then pull the hose(s) out from under the clip. Then release the clip onto the rounded surface of the air filter housing to which the hose connects. It's easier to do it this way than taking the clip completely off.

You shouldn't have much of a problem remembering which hose goes onto which part of the air filter housing because the hoses will be left hanging in position.

If you're using a K&N, be sure you use the lube on the rubber gasket that goes around the perimiter of the filter. It's hard to slip the top part of the air filter box over it. If you don't use the lube the filter can deform and not seat correctly.

Be careful of the little side loops on the bottom of the air filter box. I broke them off the first time I did it and had to buy another air filter box. Make sure the top part of the air box fits in the loops or the box won't be completely sealed. It may take some time and nudging.

Reference to your owner's manual will help. Obviously you begin by taking off the ducting in front of the air filter box.

Good luck. Feel free to personal message me if you run into a problem.

Some people replace the spring clips with the screw type clamps to make it easier, but I like the original look of the spring clips. Make sure that whichever you use, when you reinstall them keep in mind that you'll have to take them off again so position them for ease of access.
