Air Conditioning Bearing?

i noticed that my AC bearing is leaking grease all over. so i pressed it out. I'm having a hard time time locating a new one. I called the dealer and they said they dont sell the parts seperately, and that i have to order a new AC compressor.

any suggestions?

Do you know for a fact it is the bearing? I assume you mean the clutch pulley bearing, and not the idler bearing for the belt. I think the more likely source of the lubricant you're seeing is the compressor shaft seal is allowing refrigerant and oil past the seal.

go to rockauto.com as they have service parts for the compressor, but you may want to consider just buying a remanufactured pump for the extra hundred bucks as it will come with a warranty.

Post photos of it, the OD, ID, and thickness measurement, and the code on the outer race of the bearing. Odds are very good it can be found for under $20.

It is ookie sticky gloppy *grease* right? Not just an oily mess?

You can pull the clutch and have the bearing pressed out and a new one pressed in. You'll just need to figure out the right bearing to go back in there. You could also just buy a clutch. From the research I've done, the clutch for a 1990 Camry V6 should be correct.

I still think it is the shaft seal, tho...

Why blow the charge and open the system when you don't have to??

usually because the compressor is going to fail in the next year or 2 anyways, if it lasts that long.

my compressor was off anyways. i'm doing a full rebuild of the engine and doing a single swap as well. i was just going to pull off the pulley and paint it and noticed that it was greasy.

i have easy access to a press, so i just pressed it out and tossed it. LOL

if the bearing you're talking about is the one in the a/c pump pulley, the same thing happened to me. Long story short, mine completely blew out. I was just out for a drive and didn't have any tools on me so i just cut the belt off. Obviously this ditches the p/s as well but i surprisingly liked it that way.. No plans in the near future on fixing it.
