Hi All,

I picked up an SR Motorsports inter-cooler a while back. The inlet had been re-clocked (moved) by the previous owner. As a result the inlet blocks the "moo hose".

I've been trying to tell myself that I can deal with this for about three months. I've finally had enough of my FD sounding like a cow.

Take a look at the pics. I modified a spare stock air box top that I have. Has anyone ever done this before? The air going to the air pump is filtered so no problems dumping it back into the "clean" intake air ... or?

Though that I'd ask everyone if there were any potential issues before I did this.

The original how-to link is gone, but it's basically just taking a rubber chair leg cap, drilling a few holes in it, and clamping it over the pipe by the intake manifold that is the airpump "out" pipe. Done. Works brilliantly.

I came across that thread. It's an entertaining read and definitely a simpler way of solving the problem than the fix that I'm pursuing.

I already did this so I may as well try for the cleaner look vs. a clamped on chair leg cap. With my luck that big hole that I cut will moo louder than the just having the hose removed ... my air box is open on the bottom ala AdamC's Cheap Bastard intake ... we'll see.

For now, I'm mostly concerned about any potential negative impacts on the engine.

Hi All,

I just upgraded to an Adaptronic ECU. It doesn't control the air pump and thus I have no MOO sound. Well, that's what I though. I changed the base map to drive the ISC at 250Hz rather than the default 500Hz. The factory ECU drives it at 244Hz (per the FSM) so I thought that this would give me a better range of idle air control. Sure enough it did. It also gave me a nice MOO sound with a duty cycle of about 60%. This is of course right where the car idles at a stop light.

If I reduce or increase the duty cycle the MOO disappears.

There you have it, the ISC "MOOs"! Now I know why this mod to the factory airbox left some MOOing behind.

Hmm, something must be weird with your ISC, mine doesn't make any sort of noises like that.

It is weird ... At 500hz the moo occurs, just at a different duty cycle. I'm guessing it's a combination of my mods.

Shoot if someone has a spare solenoid, I'll give it a shot the next time my uim is off.
