Flyrx7: that looks great! does your car have a clearcoat, and what zaino products do you use on it?

No clear coat.
I'll have to take a look at the numbers on my Zaino bottles when I get home.
I started with the clay bar, some 3m rubbing compound for the tough water spots, then Z2 or Z3 ( I think, it was the non-clear coat polish) then finished with a couple applications of the show shine spray. Like I said, I'll have to get all the product numbers.
Maybe I'll do a brief write-up and another pic or two.

Regards,
Frank

There is some activator (ZFX) now where you can apply like three coats one after the other.

If you have nothing better to do on a sunny day, nothing beats waxing a car three times in a row (neighbours probably think i'm weird)

I am going to stop using Zaino and go to a wax. Something Carnauba, possible S100. I would rather be applying some coats of wax that will give me UV protection, than just a polish.

Soverign is just a tad expensive...
But I tried the Pinnacle complete kit, with the soverign and claybars etc... and we'll see what happens

I think any Carnauba wax will give you some UV protection.

Flyrx7 I must say...your car is BEAUTIFUL!!!! I used to have the Integral A2 and was in love with them. Always was jealous of the black cars because of the reflection you get after waxing. You're style has made the FD look absolutely STUNNING. I must say I would put your RX-7 in one of my top 5 favorite FD's ever, just because of color/style/wheels/wax job. Nice car, can't say that enough

I love the A2's as well. Simple, light, and still easy on the eyes.
The pic I posted is one of my favorites too. Makes me fall in love with the FD all over again (not like I ever fell out of it though ). I just wish it was easier to keep it looking that good. Black is beautiful but it's a real bitch to keep up.
I'll try to post some more pics later, as well as the Zaino write up.
Thanks for the kind words guys.

Regards,
Frank

Zaino has several products. First they recommend that you wash the car with a mild dish soap like "Dawn". Then you apply a coat of "polish lock". This supposedly allows the polish to stick to the car better. After that, you apply the polish, let it dry, and lightly buff it. You can put on as many coats as you want.

The latest Zaino process is not nearly as time-consuming as many claim. You simply mix the ZFX (curing agent) with the desired polish in the bottle and apply it. I wait around 20 minutes and wipe the stuff off. You then use the Gloss Enhancer spray on the car and do another coat.

I'm sure there are other products out there that will do a very good job. I love the Zaino, and until I see something that looks better and applys easier in person, I'll stick with Zaino.

BTW: Lots of nice pictures in this thread. Black is gorgeous when done right.

this might be a blunt question but for the guys who are knowledgable with these things, whats better overall as a wax? zaino or mothers?

Zaino isn't a wax but a polish. I don't have any experience with Mothers, so I can't really comment on that. I'm fairly sure that Mothers makes a wide range of products in a wide range of prices, so you might have to be more specific.

I remember seeing a test of Zaino vs. the competition on the NSX forum and Zaino ruled all, in terms of longevity.....anyone have a link for that one?
