aftermarket CD player install w/ BOSE acoustics
Hey i'm about to replace my factory double din with a single din CD player. Well i have already purchased a harness adapter and the single din kit. Well i have a the touring model with the BOSE acoustics. Is this still just plug and play or do i have to modify the wirings to adapt onto the new aftermarket CD player. I jsut want to make sure before i start on the install.. I'm just worried i have to rewire everything because of how the factory amps and stuff.

I have an Alpine radio/ cd player in my 93. Mazda paid for it and the install, and I can't recall what was done to make it work. I do know that I didn't pay for anything other than the Alpine. You do not need to replace the speakers, and the system definately sounds better with the Alpine.

you need to go to teh audio section adn do a search on BOSE..there are plenty of info there...
you need a FAI harness from crutchfield, when ask for it, they will sell you teh rest of teh components to go along with that Factor Amp Interface harness...total is about 80 bucks shipped....
and you need to splice the remote turn on wire from your head unit to the factory harness position 1J
and viola..youhad yourself renew sound syetem

do a search reguarding this subject. A few months ago we were discussing this issue in detail.
But basically a bose stereo is passive i.e. it dosen't drive enough power to run speakers. That is why each bose speaker has an amplifier. What I would do is hook up an attenuator to bring down the power from your strereo to your speakers (actually amplifiers) so that way you don't fry anything.
Bose speakers are 1 Ohm while regular speakers are 4 Ohm. The reason for that is because less resistance equals more current. Don't worry about that if you are gonna use an attenuator.

When changing out the head unit on the bose systems you don't need to change the speakers or anything. You'll need the wiring adapter and a periphial(sp?) adapter (I think that is what it's called) just goto any best buy or circuit city and tell them you have a bose system and they'll know what your talking about.
I think the periphial(sp?) adapter wired in with the wiring adapter, I don't really remember though. After you wire up that stuff just plug it in.
I got my wiring adapter form circuit city and it didn't have the amp turn on wire in it so we had to figure out wich wire it was a tap into the existing wire.

Yeah I had this done. You definitely don't need to change the speakers. The place that did mine made me get that bose adapter thing but I've also talked to a couple of guys who said they just wired it in like you normally would and it worked fine.
