Aftermarket alarm problem?
Does the electrical system in this car really blow or is it the alarm? But I have a Clifford IV alarm installed on there that cost me a nice bit of money...but every now and then it likes to just not work and kill the switch while it's at it. For instance today (and many other days) i get off work, come and press my remote but the alarm wont engage. In fact the alarm is completely out...i open the door, sit and try to crank but it wont crank. Only the starter clicks. Is it something with the alarm, the wiring, or the fact that the RX-7 doesn't like this particular alarm?

The clifford alarm will dissable the starter if wired properly to the car so with that in mind and you say you hear the starter click I would say your problem is the starter not the alarm. The fact that the alarm is not arming could be as simple as the batteries in the remote or the remote is bad itself.

I also had a Clifford alarm in my fd. That thing was the worst alarm I have ever had. It fucked up everything in my car. Locks wouldnt work, windows wouldnt work, it would make me hit fuel cut at 3.5k rpm, car wouldnt start sometimes, the options of the alarm would mess up. I had to tow it to the installer to have it ripped out completly(different place). After that I have never had a single problem. I love clifford alarms I have them on my other cars ans so does the rest of the family. THEY ARE NOT USER FRIENDLY BY ALL MEANS. But damn they do their job when working correctly. I still have my clifford alarm from my car with everything. Glass sensor, movement inside car sensor and outside, the whole works. Called a Solaras, but I could be wrong. Its a top model, if anybody wants it PM me.

for the first thing security systems are a pain in the butt. the cliffords seem to be a little touchy they will reset their settings and then not work the way you want them to. they are also kind of picky about the cars they like to work in. this sounds dumb but they just dont like some cars. this out of the way
1st if you don't drive your car everyday then you the alarm will drain the battery to the point it shuts down due to low voltage at this point all settings are lost.
2nd if you do drive everyday then it is a problem with the alarm. take it back it has a warrenty. if it is functioning properly then they will most likely tell you the problem and if they have good customer service then it probably wont cost you anything.
as for it being the starter well it would do it more than just when the alarm screws up.
in the future when choosing an alarm try to keep it as simple as possible the more options the more problems.
now i'am not saying all alarms have problems just that they do need a little pactience.

i've taken it to them twice already...i asked them to just rip it out for the love of God I feel embarassed going into my car and not being able to start it. They wont rip it out and give me refund, but they said they'll replace the entire alarm...i don't know man, i guess i'll take it in there tomorrow...but i don't like leaving my car in their hands. I don't trust the installation guys
