After maz reman being installed the main fuse goes out at first start.

Finnaly, after waiting 1 month the motor was installed. But something went wrong and when they first started up the car, the main fuse went off. Main harness and all wires were checked. Nothing was touching eachother to cause the fuse to go out. Tomorrow, they are going to bypass the fuse and try to start up the car to have the oil, coolant to run in the system.

My question is, did the fuse go out because the fuse it self is over 10years old? Or could it be some other problem im facing? If you Rx7 guru can help me out on this, it will be great.

Thank you,

Tadashi Suzuki

Does it still crank (with the blown fuse) ?? If so, check the Alternator cable for possible "positive" contact somewhere on block or grounding on other part. Activate headlights (should turn on) and make sure all internal illumination is normal. Double check all engine bay and cabin fuses as they might give you some indication where the electrical short is starting.

Bypassing the fuse is the worst idea. Likely the fuse blew because there is a direct short.

areXseven, I was not there when that happened. I'd have to check with them tomorrow with cranking with blown fuse. If the headlights and all other electronics functions what does that mean?

turbojeff, I totally agree with you regards to "bypassing the fuse". But the car has been in the shop for 1 month and they* seem to be in hurry. I'm going to let them check the "alternator" wireing first thing tomorrow.
