Advise about emissions and single turbo
I just wanted to get a good idea of what can be done about staying emissions compliant, if I were to do a single setup. Ive been looking into it for a while, and it seems like the GT35R and the XS T04E kits are the only 2 that allow you to retain the airpump. I do like the 35R, but if I do decide on a different setup, what can be done about this? I know it is possible to run a GM electric airpump, but Im not sure exactly how this is to be set up. Do I still keep the ACV and most of my other emissions equipment, does the pump run constantly, how should I set it up, etc. I dont have to worry about a visual inspection in my area, just a sniffer. I want to keep my high-flow cat, and not have to worry about swapping back emissions parts once a year, so I want a setup that I can run with all the time. Does anyone have any advise, links, or personal experience with doing this? Thanks

Simple. Do a high flow cat (metal core cats are awesome and if you want low backpressure a creative exhaust guy could fit two in parallel) and if that doesn't pass without an air pump (we had a guy lean out his PFC with no cat and passed down here in Houston) then add an electric air pump. You don't need the ACV or any solenoids or any of the LIM piping, just route the air pump outlet to the cat or upstream of the cat, block off the LIM openings and put the stock check valve in the line from the air pump to the cat. You can run the electric pump with a manual switch for emmisions only or use the factory trigger for the stock airpump to run the electric pump.
There you are, go for broke on the turbo. Or buy and HKS kit that retains the air pump, or buy the GT35/40 (you'll have to fab a few pieces) from A-spec. You could also buy the tubular HKS mani and put a small turbo on it and do your own kit, or just have a mani custom made to meet your needs.

Lenny, I would just keep things simple and leave the ACV and air pump in place. You can swap in a hi-flow (or stock) cat for testing. The A-spec GT35/40 kit will allow this. Chris Regan has an excellent write-up on his site.
