Adjusting headlight assemblies left to right?

Hoping for a simple solution here, I tried searching but all I get back is headlight beam adjustment or threads that don’t have an answer. But it seems over the couple years I’ve had the car, the gaps on the headlights are shifting, the left side of my hood now barely touches the headlight cover which it did not when I got it and the right side the gap is larger between the cover and the hood. I took pictures of the gaps between the headlights and the fenders, I’m hesitant to close the hood because I don’t want to scuff it anymore. But where is the adjustment for it? Or is there one? And if there is already a thread about this, sorry for my ignorance and please direct me to that one, thanks for any help!

There are four bolts that attach the headlight cover. Two in front and two in back. Take off the front black cover surrounding the headlight itself to get to the front two. Loosen all four bolts, sometimes very hard due to rust, and adjust the cover over until evenly spaced and loosely retighten. Try each change out by using the headlight retractor button on the left side of the dash. Then retighten completely once good.

^The screws on the headlght lids will adjust up and down but that's it.

I've never really found a good solid way for adjusting the headlight placement. The bolts that hold the headlight assembly to the car just behind the lid do have some adjustment but it's tricky.

I've messed a LOT with mine but I think my passenger fender is a bit jacked up which isn't helping things.

There's also not a good guide on adjusting them in the shop manual which sucks.

Not to disagree with Dale, but I literally just put brand new headlights covers on my recent rebuild in the last few months and they needed adjustment. There is a little room in the plastic slots on the cover that can allow you to adjust the covers side to side. It is not a lot but you are able to hopefully prevent any pinching that is seen in the pictures above on the left side headlight. Also, if you needed, you could simply use a small dremel tool to open the slot a little wider to allow more side to side movement to make it better but that might pinch the black plastic headlight cover some when reinstalled.

The covers are only intended for up and down adjustment but there is a little side to side. I believe there is a wiggle room is where the headlight buckets bolt to the frame as well. You could also shim with washers if needed. But the buckets are kind of a pain to get to with the bumper in place.

Thanks for the insight guys! Maybe I’ll try a combination of the cover and the assembly itself, also looking at the gaps between the hood and fenders, it seems to also need to move over 1/16-1/8”
