Ditto. My R1 sounds like a pissed off chainsaw at WOT, and the flames are a definite bonus

Plus, the chicks dig it when you smell like raw petroleum.....it brings out the animal in them

Dude, I thought you were running a HFC? are you still shootin flames through that thing? I never know if I am shooting flames or not...Had it backfire pretty loud a few times since the RMP went on but not sure if it lit up...You have any comment on the Greddy vs. UR pullys?

I put on my Pettit midpipe w/resonator this weekend and dyno'ed as well. Without further tuning, I got just under 26 more rwhp !!!! Cool. Car now revs MUCH faster and the dip between 1st and 2nd turbo now gone! Cool !!!!

I'm still amazed at how much HP increase putting on a MP will give for a FI engine...I would like to dyno again since the last time I dynoed I had 255rwhp and didn't have the greddy fmic or MP back then...whadda ya think I gained from the MP anf FMIC? I guess the only real way is to dyno the ****.

Yo D,

I had a high flow for awhile. It's long gone. I love my midpipe . Actually, I *did* shoot a few flames with the high flow, but now my R1 is a veritable flame thrower .

I'm running the Greddy pulleys and like them quite a bit. I don't think you can go wrong with either setup.

The only comment I would have on this is whether or not you plan on adding more pulleys later on (underdrive, PS) and will be **** about having them match 100%.. in that case go with the UR. If not the Greddy will serve your purpose just fine, I have the Greddy's myself as well.

Begin Ricer Question....

Can you shoot flames with a midpipe threw a Dual Tip Exhaust, I.E. Racing Beat or M2, not Apexi N1. Or does it require a ricey single tip.

...End Ricer Question

You just bought my high flow, and you're already looking to go midpipe ? Actually, I shot flames a few times with that very high flow installed. I've always seen a single tip shootin' flames. Hmmm. I would assume a dual tip will as well. Only one way to find out

Not that I want to melt off my bumper or anything like that but how do you enduce a flame?

as far as the pullys go, I think the UR would be the choice for me since I plan on replacing all of them.

Well, I'm just shooting them naturally. Open exhaust, tuned to run rich.

There is a way to do it w/the power fc, but you'll foul your plugs quickly and it's a bit of a pain in the ***. I can tell you guys if you'd really like me to......

Go into the rev/idle option and raise the decel f/c to 8000 on the middle option (there are three decel fuel cuts, raise the second one). Make sure your parking lights are on if you're trying during the day. Rev her to redline in 2nd or 3rd and let off the gas. Voila, flamethrower ! Make sure you put it back to it's original setting when you're done.

Is this the resonated midpipe apnea bought?

http://66.216.67.51/product.asp?3=703

If yes, then it appears there's a muffler canister inline with the exhaust flow. That muffler canister will probably add turbulance to the exhuast flow (it's basically a muffler before the catback's muffler), thus the exhaust flow won't be AS FREE-FLOWING as a non-resonated midpipe (no little muffler inline with the exhaust flow), but will be slightly freer flowing the my current hight flow cat. That being said, I probably would not do this resonated midpipe, as the gain in HP would be minimal compared with a non-resonated midpipe. IMHO, the noise and smell really turns the Mrs off, and she does ride in my car on the weekends. I guess if it were just me, then, I'd do the non-resonated midpipe, rip out the air pump, and retune the Power FC on the Rx7 Store's new dyno...

The resonated midpipe uses a Magnaflow Oval Muffler, when I installed it with my HKS Turbo Catback, it sounded just a tad louder than with the Catalytic Converter, and my car felt a good bit quicker, I then took of my HKS Catback and installed a Apex GT Catback and it is very loud until 4500 rpm, where it quiets down a bit but is still loud. With the GT Catback in place my car felt tons faster. Since I never had the Apex GT Catback on with a Catalytic Converter I can't say if its that loud without the midpipe, I dynoed at 301WHP with my current mods, while my friend with exactly the same mods except a straight through midpipe hit 308. Although my turbos were rebuilt a long time ago and my primary only hits .5bar boost.

My Pettit MP w/ resonator is now in and it sounds a tad bit louder at idle and low rpm. It's bearable and only gets loud at WOT. It's worth it because I rev much faster than before!!! Sounds aggressive too! Just my 2cents.

Just want to point out that mufflers do not "make" power, they just free it up

I think Vosko has a RB and you should see him shoot flames!

Since Jason at the RX7 Store just installed a new dyno I think it wouldn't be much for him to do a run with a straight MP and with a resonated MP to see the power difference. Come on Jason, do it and post the results on the product's page. The resonated MP may not flow as well but I guess it's a toss up...according to Icemastr, approximately a 7hp toss up to not have an obnoxious smelly car. Strange thing is, even with the o2pump not plummed into it the smell is no richer than before.

apnea,

I was @ the Rx7 Store last weekend for an oil pan reseal. The pit is being dug for the giant dyno drum. I suspect Rx7 Store is still 2 weeks away from having a fully operational dyno.

That being said, I hinted @ Jason to perhaps do an open house of sorts and invite his customers for some dyno pulls?? Don't know how receptive he was, but the hint was dropped LOL
