ACT ZX3-HD00 vs. Stock OEM clutch and pressure plate. Which should I buy?
Right now I have a centerforce clutch in my 7 and its slipping badly. Its been my experience (with other cars at least) that OEM factory parts hold up longer and are higher quality than aftermarket stuff.
My RX-7 has a downpipe and a cat back exhaust. I don't plan on doing anything else to it that will increase the power.
So now comes the question, which clutch/pressure plate combo should I buy? I've read good things about the ACT street/strip ZX3-HD00. Has anyone opted to put in a new factory clutch? If so how is it holding up?
By the way its a 94 touring model.
Thanks,
-Charlie

I have the same mods as you do and I have a second OEM clutch with about 11k on it. It's holding up OK but it doesn't grab like an ACT street/strip. The ACT street/strip only increases clutch effort a little bit and there are no other downsides. The upside is it will certainly hold the extra power you're making and will still be good even if you later decide to do more power upgrades.
Be careful when ordering the clutch, I've seen some vendors sell the ACT street/strip disk with an OEM pressure plate instead of with an upgraded pressure plate.

Thanks for the input. I think I'm going to order it from www.rx7store.net and that one comes with the upgraded pressure plate. Anyone else have input on this subject?
