Which ACT Clutch to buy......... give me some feedback.

I have a Dual Friction Center Force that I like to replace.

I have a Racing Beat 11lbs flywheel and the Centerforce is prone to clutch chatter when mated with the lighter flywheel.

Right now my HP is just under 300HP with the boost turned down for the winterized gas in CA. By summer I like to get in the neighborhood of the 400RWHP range.

With that being said which ACT would be best for me?

- Street/Strip

- Extreme

My car is my daily beater and weekend warrior, so I like a liveable clutch. One that won't **** me off after using it for a month or more.

Will the Street/Strip be able to handle the 400RWHP range? Or will it start to slip?

I assume that the Extreme will be able to handle the 400HP, but are there any drawbacks from daily usage? More stress on clutch related components such as the clutch fork?

Thanks in advance for sharing ur thoughts and experiences......

street strip should be sufficient enough for your needs.

the Street/Strip is easy to live with. But I don't know how the Extreme feels.

Mike, I don't have 400rwhp now........... just wanted to have a cltuch that can handle whatever BNR stage 3 can put out with a street ported engine.

Read above if u still don't understand.

If u have nothing constructive to post go somewhere else.

This is not the lounge or the west coast section.

Leave the drama there.

Thank u very much.

I was going through the same dilemma since I will have a steetport and BNR stage 3's getting installed in the next month. Since I will be driving this car in traffic, on occasion, I just went w/ the ACT xtreme pressure plate combined w/ the less aggressive street/strip disc for easier driving. Hopefully this will be the perfect combo for my needs but we'll see.

theres no drama, the extreme with the copper disc is rated to handle 400+ hp, but do you want a copper disc to drive around with?

Well then why did u ask for dyno sheets for 400rwhp?

Anyways, back to the original post.........

I happen to have both SS and Extreme here at my place.

They sent me 2 so I can check them out.

Both have the same part numbers for the disc MZSD069.

But the Pressure plate has different part numbers.

MZ-011X

and

MZ-011

So which one do should I use based on the aforementioned?

I knew I wasn't alone on this.

I think I am leaning towards the SS disc with the Extreme Pressure plate.

Anyone else like to chime in?

Nope, I just had rick install a resurfaced flywheel. I like low-end torque.

Mods are in my sig, though the turbos are now blown. The clutch works excellent though, and I highly recommend it if you are changing.

Excellent answer ripin rotors

The Extreme pressure plate is generally recommended for a track cars - the engagement/disengagement is a lot more like a switch, making that crawl through the drive through or traffic a pain. No point on a street car with only upgraded twins, the SS is more than enough

I have a Extreme with the SS disk, that I'll be putting in here in the next few weeks. I don't mind the on/off action as long as it holds. My car is a weekend driver and sees a good amount of time at the track so that was a big factor for me.

I heard that the Extreme with the S/S disc isn't an on off feel.

Just less slippage on high HP/TQ applications.

So u guys feel that It will handle whatever max HP/TQ the BNR stage 3 will put out on a street ported engine?

I think the most hp the BNRs will see is around 430-440 rwhp with great tuning and 18-19 psi so they will put out some power - I don't imagine the torque would be much over 300 lb/tq. I have the street/strip disc with heavy duty pressure plate - it feels like the stock clutch IMO. I've had it on for over 10K miles with a #9.5 flywheel with no problems - the most hp I had with my stock twins at 14 psi was about 350 rwhp and the clutch combo did great. I'm sure it would do great with the new upgraded twins also - I haven't ever heard anything bad about the SS disc/ HD pressure plate combo. Very streetable and clamps about 30-40% over stock.

Hey Batman, I thought you had the Stage 2s?

I think one of the guys that I known got 320ish rwtq on stock twins with a street ported engine at 16psi.

SO the BNR should be more.

I have the Stage 2, but in time will tune it and dyno them and then get teh Stage 3 to Dyno with the same mods so people can reference the HP difference.

KWIKRX7, it's sounds like u are keeping ur car after all.

Give us the 411.

No, I'm still selling it this spring/summer. My car is still up at KDR - I got a used differential since my diff was trashed and wouldn't allow much hp to the wheels - Dave at KDR caught the flu and got backed up a week and now we just got dumped on with 2+ feet of snow so now I'm sure I'll never get my car back - but I'm going to enjoy the car for a few months before I sell it - the reason I'm selling is I need a more effiecient car for my 2nd car and my wife thinks the FD is literally... Satan ...I've dumped too much money into this damn car.

are you going to drag race? if not then the stock clutch with a 40% pressure plate is actually enough. I know several people WHO DON'T DRAG RACE who run this setup fine with over 400rwhp
