AC Low pressure: Schrader valve

Greetings,

I need to replace a leaky schrader valve on the low pressure side of my AC lines.
When I put my valve stem tool into the port, I noticed the top of the valve looked a bit different.

The stem is a little larger than the slot on my stem removal tool.

Is this some different type of valve than a traditional schrader valve?

Figured I'd ask since I'm not familiar with it.

Car is a 93' FD3S.

Thanks!

It's plain vanilla, but it IS an old R12 system. Many of the modern tools out there would be designed for R134a.

You may want to try a tool that's designed for tire valve stems, I seem to remember using one of those once.

Thanks, Dale.

Figured the tool I have was meant for tire valve stems.
Perhaps I'll look at others.

Guess I'll just take off the whole bung when I get back home.

Thanks for the reply.
