ABS light flashing after cluster change
Hi,
I have just put a 1997 series seven 300kph instrument cluster into my 93 FD and now the ABS is playing up.
When its started sometimes the ABS light is out and then the first or second time you brake the abs sounds like its working and makes noises. Then the ABS light comes on in the cluster and stays on.
I have looked at both clusters and the backs appear the same and the plugs are the same. All the gauges work fine and there has never been a problem with the ABS before. I have had the sensors checked and there are no error codes showing.
Does anyone know whats going on or if there are any differences between the 93 and 97 cluster setup. Is the cluster looking for airbag sensors that I dont have??
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks

Judging from what you are saying, I believe it would be the cluster's fault. Try replacing the new one with the old one. If the abs doesn't show up then it's obviously the cluster that is messed up. I have never dealt with the ABS computer from a JDM model personally, but the likelyhood of them changing the wires around is slim, but still a possibility. If the light shows on the original cluster also, and the wheel speed sensors show up as being ok, then you have a bad abs computer.
