Did you buy authentic jdm 99 spec tails? Or did you buy these off someone?

Maybe the previous owner painted over the amber. Or they could have put a red overlay on top of it.

Is it real 99??? the way to tell if they are real or fake is to see if the inner circle lens is raised or not.. If the inner lense is depressed down, then its converted tail light.

Or it could just be the light bulb.. how does it look when the lights aren't on??

well, even converted 99 spec lights would still come out with yellow turn signals..... check your light bulbs

madddddddddddddddd. take one of your light assembly apart, there will be a screw or two, and you will need a heat gun to remove a layer of rubber and melt the waterproofing glue. Then look if the actual removable lens is all red, if there is a red piece of plastic over it, or if its a red bulb, either way, it should definitely be glowing yellow, not sure about US policys on these things, but surely thats illegal???

I thought the bulbs were clear and housing was what was colored? I could be wrong, but that's what I seem to remember when I took my housings apart. If that is the case, you would either have to replace the colored section of the housing (the tinted part) or just buy new tail lamps.

the bulbs definitely are clear, i just wonder what the previous owner did to make them appear red, red bulbs, or red plastic material placed over the yellow lens part, or just a special paint coating?? its the first instance of this sort of thing i've ever heard of! i've heard of tinting the outside of lights, but not changing the color like this internally!

That is very weird. I just took my light apart to do the 99 mod to my 93 lights. The turn signal portion is a separate piece of plastic that would need to be replaced or covered with red to make it glow that way. The whole piece of plastic is amber.

All the Series-8 tail lights (99-02) should have amber coloured indicators.

I know mine does.

Those red coloured ones look custom to me. If you know how to prise apart the original Series-6 (92-95) type lights, you will be able to do what Mazda did.

Install blacked out circles..........

Much cheaper than buying the original series-8 versions.

It's obvious that the outside amber (turn signal) lenses have been replaced with red lenses.

I'm confused

What I want to know is how you get all three lights to light up at the same time?
Shouldn't the amber only light up when the turn signal/ flashers are on?
When I step on the brake, only the red lamps and the third/ middle brake lights come on.

The left signal was on - I just timed it when I took the picture.
