He didn't put colored bulbs in, but that's because he wanted white lighting.

I mean is it the overlays for the gauges or are people using different colored bulbs? or both?

I myself have white faced guages that light up blue (matches my deck and profec boost controller) they were overlays, fairly good quality too. I'll see if I have a pic.

so how are they shinning blue? is that the actual overlay that is making it shine blue. How does it shine blue through the red film. Maybe there is something I am missing on this. anyone want to set me straight on this?

Not sure exactly. There are no bulbs involved and the overlays disable/block the lighting from the stock guages so I'm not sure how they are being lit.
