Haven't bolted the hood onto it yet. So I can't comment on hood to bumper gap.

I bought my plateless urethane bumper on ebay a year ago. It fit pretty well, needed a little working to get the surface smooth before paint. Of course you do have to drill all the holes, but it does look pretty good. Only part that needed real attention was where it meets the fenders. The edge was rough from the mold.

All told, maybe spent 2 hours getting it to my liking.

Ended up picking up Mazdaspeed A Spec Instead.

Now I gotta make the rest of the FD look fit around that bumper.

Bufferovrflo, that is one nice looking FD! What brand/make are the side fairings? How wide are your front wheels/tires? Rim make?

Engine bay cleaned up very nicely. What did you remove?

Thanks man! They're Shine 99 spec sideskirts; wheels are Work XD9 18x10+38 around. Those tires pictured were crap all-seasons 245 which were replaced with Proxes R1R 255f/265r. Oh man the engine bay... I guess single turbo, basic wire tuck here and there, removed ABS, manual steering rack, I do have A/C but not pictured, no wiper motors (never rains here); clean and simple is my style

Well i got mine in and it fits ok. It is off in some areas, but a little more tweaking and some body work it should be ok. It is aftermarket so you should expect some minor work and adjustments. I don't think its bad for a rep. here are some pics. I also used some brackets off my stock bumper where it mounts to fender. I don't have a crash bar and I still need to get one.

Yep, that has always been the problem. I've had my plateless urethane bumper for something like 7 or 8 years now and it's got exactly the same issue. It's just a little too wide so if you want a good fitment around the lights and fenders, you end up with a gap in the center where it meets the hood. Or you can get the hood gap right but then it rubs on the headlight covers.

did anyone cut there brace/brackets off the bumper that mount up by the hood. The reinforcement piece that hold the top of bumper up by the hood latch. ididnt use mine because it was riveted on. i wonder if i mounted that and riveted on to my new bumper would it fit better?? if someone has pics of that please post it.

Yea I drilled out the old rivets and riveted the brace to my new bumper. It attaches really securely but I don't think it helps with the fitment at all.

I have all 3 petitt ebay and OEM. I think the OEM fits the best with little to no fitting issues, but it did take almost 6 months to get.

The fact is nothing will fit better than OEM... So if you want perfect fitment from a polyurethane bumper, that's not going to happen with an inexpensive aftermarket copy. As it has been documented countless of times that it is not a perfect fit.

The fact that nothing will fit better than OEM remains... No one here argued that. It is take more than three stoogies to not comprehend that. Thanks for the clarification on the fact that the entire world knows. In case you didn't know, it just happens it takes a few months to get the OEM bumper.

This thread exists to help otherS and to learn from people's experienceS in their questS to achieve the 99 spec look from NON-OEM partS. Thanks for your help.
