94' JDM FD Type R with a broken gas gauge or sensor

Hello guys!

I have already found out that the gas gauge doesn't drop down to 0 when you turn off ignition, so that makes my problem a bit worse to figure out.

My gas gauge is kinda stuck at a little bit above 50%, even though the tank might be full, or empty.

The light comes on before the tank is completely empty, and that makes me belive that the actual gauge is broken, and not the sensor (in my gas tank).

Anyone have ideas about this? How can I check if either items are broken? Are the hard/expensive to fix?

i think the gas light and the level sender are 2 diff sensors... i'm not 100% sure on the FD tho..

first thing i'd do is open up my gastank/fuel pump... take it out.. and examine it and play with it by hand... it might be jammed...

u can use a Voltimeter to check the output of the level sender and see if it's working correctly..

then move on to taking apart ur dashboard and checking the gauge

They're two different sensors.

Check to make sure the float isn't caught. Pull the top off the gas tank. It only takes a phillips screwdriver.
