93 TT Y pipe wet from oil

Hey Club, haven't been on in a long time.
I noticed oil below the air box as well as coming out from the ABV, the stock BOV. I put a filter on the end of it but there's oil coming out from the small filter. I heard that this is a normal thing? I've had it one for about 4k miles.

Just today I also noticed that the Y pipe is also wet from oil. Why is this so? I'm pretty sure it's normal, but am wondering for reasons why

There's a few spots it can get oil from. First is the turbos themselves, if the seals on the compressor side are leaking. More common, though, is the PCV system. The oil fill neck has a hose that goes to the primary turbo inlet duct, this draws oil vapors into the engine for burning. Sometimes it can get more than just vapors.

I had a problem once where I would see a LOT of oil in the turbo plumbing after an oil change. I was just pouring the bottles of oil into the oil fill neck without a funnel, the oil was running into the PCV hose and going into the inlet duct. Started using a funnel and haven't had that issue since.

Install a catch can on the PCV line and see if that helps.

There's a lot on the forum on this.

To add to the above:

Consider picking up an Efini Y-pipe. OEM/JDM part, replaces the poor US-Spec design with the updated flanged version--- you'll lose the plastic connection and 25 year old coupler that probably leaks boost and oil on just about every FD by 2017.

I just picked one up not too long ago from my homeboy Ari:

Rotary Performance | FD Intercooler

Adds a little power too

Thanks everyone for chiming in.
I'll most likely be ordering a catch can first and then ordering a y pipe when I get a PFC.

Here are pictures of blowback and oil spots that are bothering me. The IC tube isn't bolted down all the way but I worry that much blowback is coming from the UIM

The mini filter is on the ABV, there's a picture of the ypipe, and a picture of the IC piping

That just looks like the typical amount you would have from the PCV system, not a whole lot there. You can put in a catch can to help with that.

Quick question @Dale or anyone
If I'm going WOT before the 2nd turbo kicks in, is it normal to have a little amount of blowby/smoke coming from the exhaust? It's happened before when I see a puff of smoke and the smell following after I go wot, but it doesn't persist. Perhaps just oil chillen in the turbos?
