93 RX-7 Automatic flexplate is showing...is this normal?

I have a 93 RX-7 Touring with the automatic. I noticed when I swapped my turbos out that the flex plate is showing quite a lot. I am curious if this is normal or not. I am pulling the transmission out tomorrow to swap my 5 speed in anyway but I don't know if this is normal.

there is a metal plate that bolts to the engine and covers that area. it's just thin metal, don't think you'll have a problem running without one, as you haven't already.

cover plate is missing. Two bolts hold it on. Get with ray and get a new one

I just got all the seals and misc bolts from Ray today so I'll be finishing my 5 speed this weekend so no worries. Thanks for your quick replies!
