93 - Replaced Window Switch, now my passenger side window rolls down, but not up.

Ok, so I had to replace my drivers side window switch. There are two noticable differences.

1.) It has an auto feature (relay activates when you press the switch so the window has the 1 touch roll down)

2.) There is an extra wire which is jumpering two points on the back.

I am thinking that this may be the culprit, but before i go hacking away.. i wanted to see if anyone had the same problem?

Drivers side window works great, passenger side window rolls DOWN, but NOT up. Also, I can't roll it up with the passenger control switch either. I tried with teh safety lock on and off, no luck. Window goes down, but not up (passenger only)

Here are pics.

This is the old stock switch:

This is the replacement (notice the pink wires)

Those pink wires may have something to do with the auto feature, but i am not sure. I put my old switch back in and the window works fine. The reason i replaced it was because i broke the drivers side switch!

Any clue?

Thanks
-Darren-

Good point, I'll check it out. It's obviously a switch problem since my old switch works and new one doesn't. I wonder if they sent me one from a 94?

Thats a 94-95 switch, and the pink wire is supposed to be there. I replaced my 93 switch with the updated one and it works perfectly. So you can rule out the pink wire and the fact that its a 94 switch as the problem.

Maybe the switch has a bad regulator? I looked at the wiring diagram, maybe it allows it to go down but not up?

Hrmm.. could be a faulty switch? Doesn't make sense that my old one works, and this one doesn't.

I dont have the Body Electrical manual either =/

I can't get it to roll up with the passenger side control either when that switch is hooked up.

THe manual doesn't have the symptoms. Its a switch problem... if I have a switch that I know works, and replace it with a switch that I am not sure if it works.. and one switch works, other doesn't... obviously its a switch error. I need to find out what differs in the 93 vs 94-95 switches. Why couldn't malloy just send me the old *** 93 switch? =(

Eh drivers side works... no clue then. I am dealing with my passenger side going down with both switches, but it wont go up with either. My 93 switch works fine, not this new one.

look at the wiring diagram...this sound like the drivers switch for the new switch has a problem(short/bad connection)...if you look at the wiring diagram and follow the circuit it goes to ground...check the circuit to ground...

Makes no sense...

THe switches work to bring the window down.. but not up.

If the connection was faulty, then neither down or up would work.

it has to be the ground side as the pass side has its own power source!! check for continuity through the switch just for the up side!

But explain to me how an external ground would affect just the 94-95 switch and not the 93 switch? Unless the ground was switch-related, I couldn't see it being an issue. I don't have a multimeter on hand right now so I can't do jack =./

on mine, the driver side switches for both sides work in every direction. but the switch ON the passenger side, only goes down, not up. luckily i can use the drivers side to put it up.

Well I don't want to tear it apart and have it be all screwed up.

I am going to call Malloy and have them send me another switch, perhaps this one is bad.

The only difference in schematics between the 93 switch and 94-95 switch is that automatic circuit for the one touch drivers side window.
