the '99 bumper gives it a face lift, i like both bumpers... but not the front plate on the '99...

Alex,

The 99Spec bumper makes the car look so much more modern. With the old front end it looks like a blast from the past, which can look good also.

The 99Spec bumper with an R1 wing looks hideous and the opposite is true for the 99spec wing and 93-95 bumper.

To the OP, did you check the image I linked in this thread? It shows all the OEM mazda bumpers made.

I'm personally a fan of the 99 front and I believe it is perfectly complimented by the 93-95 rear wing. Both have a similarly sharp yet rounded feel to them. IMO however to say I'm not partial to the 99 rear wing would be putting it lightly. Talk about a styling mistake, some things we should be glad we missed out on in the US. . I think the 93 front is too miataish, and I'm not a fan. Even worse in my opinion is a 93 bumper with a 99 lip, I mean it doesn't even techincally line up. With your scrutinizing eye Gordon, I'm suprised this doesn't bother you.

I guess it all comes down to a matter of personal preference. I like the 93 bumper with the 99 lip but that's just me. Whatever makes you happy.

One thing I've noticed about the 93 - If I park in the sun and it gets warmed up I can see ripples in it. It seems the heat causes it to expand more than the surrounding metal and it forms ripples. Anyone know of a fix for this and still keep the 93 look or is the 99 in frp the way to go?

Mazda sharpened the look of the car in 99 with adequate design of a front bumper and rear spoiler. I think they wanted to make the nose look lower and thinner while the *** bigger at the same time and they have acomplished it. Personally I prefer the 99spec look because of its sharpness and modern looks but i like older tail lights somewhat better. Does not mean that 93-95 looks bad though, my black 95 was awsome:

I do think R1 rear spoiler looks good with 99 front. Thats the combo i went with.

The complete 99 package looks great but for a STOCK looking 99 package, it looks weird. Especially at the ride height FD's come in. It look out of place.

Now some OEM skirts, dropped, with or without aftermarket wheels with the complete 99 package, then THATS good.

Its all opinionated anyway this discussion.

Ill take a photo of my front end when i get a free moment one of these days. 99 lip and different turn lamps = pretty decent looking bar on the older 92-98 bar

I hate all the spoilers now fwiw on the fd. I used to love the 99+ spec rear spoiler now i hate it! So now i have just gone wingless

lol i think this has turned into a thread for people to post pics of their car. which I'm perfectly fine with Im seeing a lot of stuff I like and giving me a lot of ideas. btw I just got my new fd the other day so now I has a house of kolor candy orange fd and a house of kolor kandy brandy wine fortune rx7 lol I will post pics soon. I think im leaning towards the 93-95 front end... with the smoked turn signals it looks mean and at the same time subtle.

you couldnt pay me to go 99 :]

Ouch, those are some pretty strong words. But to each is own, I'd pick a 99' spec front bumber over a 93' any day of the week given the chance, just my 2 cents.

Im all about the 99 spec front with an "RX-7" front plate, similar to Rich's set up. Love mine in silver.
