Yeah FDs are one sexy cars. But the vr4 is much sexier. I get punnany up the ing yang at my HS with my car LOL.
I have no competition at the HS. Next fastest car is the Honda Civic with the bid 4 inch fart can lol.


By the way what is the best year and model for the rx7? and can you get one for 12 grand?

in response to your comment, i totally agree, with my senior year approaching i have a decision to make in what car to get in the coming 6 months and after contemplating over an RX-7 and a Z28 forever, my mind finally went to the RX-7 simply because im a huge fan of turbos and the fact that the car adds looks with performance is a plus, also knowin everybody and their mom doesnt own one helps...

 

Vr4s arent even close...I wouldnt say they're ugly but there's no way in hell you can compare them to FDs.

Good ol' american japanese cars. But I'm being nitpicky. As far as who would get the most chicks, I'm going to have to play devil's advocate and say the supra.

Why?

Because sports cars have been called phallic extensions, and the mkiv supra looks a lot like a giant *****, albeit a very sleek & fast one. Plus all females saw Paul Walker drive it in the F&F, so by association, some of it rubs off on supra drivers.

It's funny, actually, that I worked with a guy with a NA 3000gt, and he consistently insisted that he could beat me. I never tried to race him. I really didn't want to embaress him. I mean, almost EVERYONE in my office new I would spank the living **** out of his 3000gt. I must say, his 3000GT DID have a nice blue metallic factory paint job, though, but I would constantly scrutinize it. It had numerous USLESS scoops on its side and a ton of plastic side cladding on it. The 3000GT is a nice car trying to look cool. The FD is allready a cool looking car.

 

Exactly my thoughts, funny that this thread came up today too because I saw one over the weekend. I'm looking in my rearview mirror thinking, 'what the hell is that useless junk on his hood?'.. you know those tacky little scoops on each side near the top of the hood. It's like a Japanese Pontiac.

And for you guys who say the rx7 is better looking......thats an opinion. They are nice cars but with 16 inch wheels and too high off the ground....they just look like miatas to me. But its good that you guys stick up for your cars!!

And as for useless side vents.....well actually they are far from useless. Those side vents actually transfer air to the brakes to cool them off. So you say everything with design is useless? So that side swoop on your front side is just ugly cuz its useless? Cmon lets be real here....design is design whether its design is useless or not. In this case the 3000gts design is useful and the rx7s design is useless. So why don't you all just wuit making fun of yourself and your cars?

Well seeing as I design buildings every day I feel like I am qualified to comment on this. Design is not design, that is why people who are good designers get paid to do so.. and those who are not, well they aren't designers. There is a huge range between good design and bad design.. what is good and bad is a matter of opinion when we are talking about aesthetics. Now when a design becomes 'functional' is when it takes on another meaning, combine that with something of beauty.. now that is good design. The opposite of that to me is tacking things onto a design to make it appear like it is functional... like those damn hood scoops on Mustangs. That is why the RX-7 is viewed as a 'good' design by many, because much of the aesthetic shape actually serves a purpose. The double bubble roof to lessen air turblance behind the car, the oil cooler openings in the front bumper that then exit in front of the doors.. the curves are subtle but useful. Just my 2 cents.

diamond, i'm in the sewer (sioux city), not too far away. every once in a while my car buddies and i will take a trip to des moines to visit some buddies at school... don't have an FD yet, it gets shipped on wed, then they say 10-12 days from then, so not too much longer. dunno if you know anything about the models of the RX-7, but it's an R2 (pretty schnazzy:biggrin)... anyways we should stay in touch and i'll get a caravan together to come visit...lot of ricers, imports whatever in ft. dodge?

 

When you look at all the cars side by side (RX7, 300Z, VR4. or Supra) the FD always has that pure sports car look. Mazda really overdid themselves with the lines on the FD. The VR4 is not ugly at all - it does have a lot of scoops and "useless" claddings on the body but really is one of the most technologically advanced cars made. I agree the FD with 16s sits too high and does look like a Miata on steroids. Throw some 17s or 18s on their with a spoiler (stock spoiler is fine) and you have a pure head-snapper.

 

Supras look like the Rocketter! Seriously look at'em and then look at the rocketter.

There's one thing about Supras that's better than FDs IMO. The roof (especially the rear windshield area) just flows and looks real smooth. Better looking than the roof of an FD IMO. As far as the front ends? FDs look better. The sides? FDs. The ***? Hard to say. Roof? Supra.

 

i think that bubble roof on the FD kicks ***...kinda viper-ish

 

WRONG! the bubble roof on the Viper is RX-7-ish.
