8 Bit Tuning Question.

Would like to get some help on something I read about and would like to know peoples views.

I have a stock RX7 with the 8bit ECU ('92-'95).

I am planning to do the following upgrades, Induction Kit
, free flow Cats and the rear sport silencers.

My question is, is this safe on the 8bit ECU?

I've seen some messages saying that the newer 16bit ECU can compensate for the need to increase the fuel mixture but no mention of the 8Bit ECU.

Am I gonna have to upgrade the ECU as well?

If you check out Wade Langham's site, he has done wideband testing and found that the stock ecu can support almost all bolt-ons at 10 psi. However, keeping a car running a midpipe at 10 psi will require wastegate modifications.

Sorry If I didn't make myself clear on the Cats.

When the Cats fail I'm planning on replacing them with the upgraded free-flow versions, rather than downpipes.

The car wouldn't pass MOT Emissions without them anyway....
