Exclamation 7-7-7 boost pattern ?????

Hey guys looking for some help/suggestions.

I am currently running Greddy intake, cat back, and bov type-s. I also have a apexi acv-r. When I have the boost cont. off my boost pattern is 7.25-7.8-7.25. I know that is way off.

Now before I get a smart *** answer I know if I just turn up the boost controller my boost will go up. But thats not what I want. I need to fix this boost prob w/ the controller off.

Please help me trouble shoot or give me some good suggestion.

Thanks

Ian

Why do think that's way off? You SHOULD be getting 7 psi with the boost controller off. That is the pressure that the wastegate acuator naturally opens at. Everything looks fine. Did you expect ZERO psi with the controller off?

No, that's what the stock ecu controls the boost levels to. The actuator naturally controls it to 7 psi. All you have to do is turn the boost controller on and start tuning. I'm a little confused about why you bought an expensive boost controller if you thought you would have a perfect boost pattern with it OFF....

It was a gift from my girlfriend, and when my mech. put it on he told me that my boost would go right back to stock settings if I turned it off. Also even if I didn't get it as a gift I would still have bought it. I am planning a lot in near future and I needed the controller to help me to run safely after installing my mods.

so your saying just run with the contoller on and set it where it needs to be?
even the manual says if its off then my boost setting should go back to stock.

I wished my girlfriend would buy me parts for my FD. Those two things are major money pits. But if u can have one money pit cover the other one, that would be the life.

Get a new mechanic or don't listen to your current one for modding device. Perhaps most factory turbo cars simply run at the wastegate spring pressure but the FD doesn't (which is why the Apexi manual is wrong as well in this instance).

Trust me, it's working as it should. Read up on boost controller tuning techniques. (you can search under my user name and "profec"). Take a passenger with you to read your boost gauge and SLOWLY adjust the controller. Use 3rd gear to redline to set secondary boost and make sure you go up through 4th a bit to verify settings.

well its not the stock ecu thats making the 10-8-10 only its the pills in the wastegate and precontrol actuator lines. If you remove those youll allow more airflow to the actuators and cause them to move the precontrol door and wastegate doors open earlier. Any way rynberg is right youll get around 7 with the profec in and those pills out. If you install the pills in the profec lines you should get 10-8-10 with it off maybe thats what your mechanic was saying.

oh and there are 2 ***** on it. The first one is the lag control and the second overall boost.

someone correct me if Im wrong

No problem, I didn't want you worrying that something was wrong when it wasn't. Go enjoy your car.
