530 or more 1995 FDs?

I thought Mazda only made 516 for the US in 1995, but does this car prove otherwise? Are the last 3 numbers in the VIN indicative of the production order?

i read that mazda sold 1399 RX-7s in 1995.

not sure how accurate the info is.

i believe the last 6 digits in the VIN indicate production order.

There were definitely only on the order of about 500 or so cars that year...I'm just wondering if that particular car may be the last US bound FD.

FD production (export + JDM)

Series-6

1992 = 26,899
1993 = . 6,801
1994 = . 5,962
1995 = . 5,202

Series-7

1996 = . 4,762
1997 = . 3,556
1998 = . 1,423

Series-8

1999 = . 4,151
2000 = . 2,611
2001 = . 2,589
2002 = . 3,903

As you can see, 1992 was the best year. USA sales accounted for the majority of that. By 93, sales started getting scary & you can see why Ford forced Mazda to axe the car as an export at the end of the series-6 production run.

The 500 number in the link, given by Mazda, then doesnt make sense since the FD for sale above should be car #530.

The VIN numbers don't run in necessarily consecutive order, there were 500 95s imported.

Where's the evidence to support this statement?

Looking at the production figures dude. I'd say your only have a 1-in-4 chance of it actually being a 93 model. Compared to a 3-in-4 chance of it being a 92...........

It says in the door frame the date of manufacturing, or is it the day it rolled off the ship??

My one owner 95 PEP, vin # ...S0400270 was purchased new May 11, 1996 with only 0.7 miles on the odometer. Door sill tag shows an 09/1995 date. Previous Internet postings suggested that this vin was one of the last 256 to be imported to the US.

No offense, but the car probably picked up that much mileage on the assembly line. How did it reach the dealership you bought it at? Osmosis?!?

I don't disagree. jimlab. In fact, I was (pleasantly) surprised that it didn't have even more.

From what i have read in the U.S. There was roughly 1300 (92) 93's imported and sold then about 2000 94's sold in the U.S. and only 500 or so 95's I can proudly say i have a young 94 born 02/94 and i happen to like the tac and stuff far more in the 94 than the 93's

I work at a dealer and I drive cars with less than 1 mile on them.

The only time the cars get driven is from the assembly line to a lot nearby and then on a trailer to the dealership where it can be unloaded and driven a few 100 feet to be picked up.

Its entirely possible
