5 Speed in an auto

I found a silver '95 FD for sale in really good condition, but it's an auto. Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to put in a 5 speed and who could do a good job of the work? Has anyone had this done?

Do a search on auto to 5 speed conversion and you will find lots of info, this gets asked a lot. Total cost with parts and labor shouldn't be more than $3,500 (going all stock) which you can recoup a little of by selling your old auto stuff. There are lots of ways to cut corners, doing the labor yourself is one, and being very patient and frugal with your parts shopping is another. Someone here is doing one now who says they paid less than $1,000 although that is pushing the limits. Lots of info on my conversion at my site - http://jrx7.rx7life.com/auto5speedswap.htm . The easiest way to get a 5 speed is not to buy an auto in the first place. But, if you find one for a great deal, or already have one that your wrapped into payments on or you really don't want to sell then this is a viable alternative. Don't let anyone talk you out of it.

Well Im considerably below 1K in parts cost, although i got a great deal on a lot of the stuff from someone parting out there car. My car has been on jackstands for almost a month now, all im waiting on is myself to get my lazy *** up and bolt the support braces, ppf and driveshaft on... switch out the ECU and I think im gonna eliminate the rats nest and ACV while i have the top of the engine apart... I should have a comprehensive HOW TO done in a few weeks, maybe a month... Just started school back up and have been kinda busy!

wassup

i was in the same boat as you last yr. I had a real mint 94 Montego Blue touring automatic. The car was sweet and clean as hell. I wanted to do a 5speed cuz of various reasons (the auto tranni can't put down any power)...anyways..after much thinkinh and research the outcome was me selling my auto FD and after a longgggggggg search i bought my 93 VR touring. I lucked out and found my car. Its probably even better cond than my 94 even was. So its all about patience. Anything is possible. Lets put it this way...you are getting a good deal on ur 95 auto. But how good of a deal are you getting. You would need to be getting it at least $3k cheaper than a 95 5spd...cuz that is how much you will end up spending after the conversion

The choice is urs....
