Talking 5.5" Fmic

Hi all , Let me start by saying that I AM aware of the cooling problems FD's run into when a thick FMIC is placed in front of the car/rad , but I have "upgraded " my cooling system (EWP and ducted tripple pass koyo N flow) and am now able to use a 4" thick FMIC without any problems ! I am in the process of redoing my set up and I'm thinking a bigger IC would be good . I came across a sweet 5.5"X 12" X 24 ",1000 hp supporting (?) FMIC on ebay . Has anyone attempted anything like this on a street car ? if so please post .

Why not use the greddy 3row? Or are you doing a custom setup?

I am by no means an intercooler expert... but I think selecting in intercooler based on performance would yield better results then just slapping the largest intercooler possible on... you may see a slight reduction in temps in the core... but i think trying to fill that much volume will create a bit of lag in throttle response. Unless of course your pump is pushing that much air. An efficient intercooler will cool the most with the least amount of pressure drop

too think of a FMIC will block most cold air going to the radiator causing worse temps.

too think = anything bigger than 3"

I will be running a GT45R and as I stated before , I run a 4" without any temperature issues , I am also in the process of stepping up my oil coolers to either Setrab or Mocal 25 row units.

The main reason I am thinking about swapping is the extra flow capacity presented by the 5.5" core , it also uses 3.5" in/out connectors , my GT45 discharge is 3.5" and so is my new throttle body hat.

Heres the link to it , http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=140129873361

If I am buying it I'll be taking the cheaper sea freight option , since I will not need it immediately , I still have a lot to do .
