4.3 Gears Question

I just installed 4.30s gears and I really can't tell. If anybody else has done the gears would you please tell me what mph your car does in 5th at 3000, so I can compare. I also have 275/40/17s so that will make a difference. Thanks for the help.

i have the 4.3 with 255/40 17's in the rear. What is it you can't tell about? The speedo being right, or can't that it made a difference?

I just checked this for ya. On my car running 245/45/16 on stock wheels, I clocked 2700 rpms at 70mph.

The previous owner told me he had replaced the rear with a 4.30 so hopefully this is right.

With 4.30s and P275/40-17s, 3,000 rpm in 5th gear would put you right around 74 mph, give or take. 70 mph would be right about 2,835 rpm.

Of course that's in a vacuum (no wind resistance), with perfectly round tires which perfectly match the manufacturer's claimed sizing...
