3rd Gen Storage
Hey guys - Im unfortunate enough that I am forced to store my '94 for about 4 mos a year... last year I maintained a "warmup frequency" I guess I could call it - which is how often and how long I run it during the storage period... Does anyone have any ideas of what is optimum? I think it would have to be either one of these two
1) Dont start it at all during the storage period.
2) Start it once a week until you reach normal operating temps.
What do yas think? I followed #2 last year, but wanted to get some feedback from you guys...

You guys should try the sunny south! Better yet I've got no end of friends who will excercise em for you!
Seriously, I don't put that many miles on mine and have been told by a Mazda tech that proved very reliable that sitting up was not good for the apex seals. I'm only repeating his input but rotaries like to run.
I know from airplanes that it's better not to start the engine than it is to start and warmup and shut off. This is very important cause if you don't cook the moisture out of the oil (full operating temp for 1/2 hr) you encourage rust. Exxon has some great oil guidance in thier aviation website as most General Aviation planes sit a lot and the paralells to winter sitting is pretty close.
