Question 3rd Gen owners with Miatas?

I'm looking at buying a Miata to use as my daily driver and was wondering if any other RX-7 owners also have a miata. If so, what year. Pro's & Con's?

Hey, I was planning on doing the same thing. While my FD is a blast to drive... I kinda wanted to get a miata to beat around in... and save gas. Two of my friends own miatas... and they are fun cars, albeit absolutely no power. Nothing a turbo kit can't change, right?

I might pick up a '91 or '92 for 3 to 4 grand (1.6 liter) and put the Greddy turbo kit on it over time.

I tell ya... it's a fun little car... good luck!

I'm looking at a '91 Vintage Red tonight; 53K miles......$4,000

I know it's low miles for a 91 (way low!). I heard that the 90-92's had a crankshaft problem.....but I don't want to spend 10K on a 95 & up model. This is just supposed to help me have fun while the RX-7 rests.....I also have an 89 Bronco II, but I'm getting tired of it.

Well, my wife & I were just going to test drive and then discuss it overnight. But after the test drive we went inside the owners house and were talking about the car and other things. I asked if I gave him a deposit then changed my mind would the deposit be refundable? He asked for how long and I said 24 hours (Just in case we decided against the purchase), then before the seller could reply, my wife said, "I don't think that will be a problem.....we know the answer....So we wrote the check and drove it home!

It's a beauty! Vintage Red (so is my RX-7) and only 53,000 miles. The interior and exterior are immaculate. The top is like new. The only prob is the rims are the stock steel.....but not for long.

This will be my daily driver so the RX-7 gets a rest from the 50 miles/day roundtrip to work.

It is totally stock except for a Blaupunkt CD player.

Will post side by side pix soon.

My dad bought a '00 Miata, he lets me drive it sometimes....

Pros:

Peppy
Looks good
Nice construction
Ergonomic
Short shift throw
Convertible top easy to work
Good gas consumption
Handles well, fun car to drive

Cons:

Too small for tall people to be comfortable
Front windsheild is a little small
You see them quite often
No cupholders
It's not my FD

But, they are really nice cars, I almost bought one but I couldn't afford to turbocharge it at the time so I went with the Rx7.
