They don't have to pay FOR the car, it's just harder to own one if you are also paying insurance, rent/mortage, utilities and whatever else you live off of.

I suppose I could've afforded one when I was 19, but I'm not paying more in insurance than the car.

i'm not claiming that.. my parents bought me my car and they pay insurance. i'm not bragging, but i'm also not ashamed. if i'm the only one then that's fine, but i'm not embarassed and i think anybody wishing to waste their time getting upset about such irrelevant things should stop wasting other people's time and keep it to themself.

dude im 18. i work 2 jobs and go to school. my parents did help me by co-signing on a loan, but i make the payments, plus pay insurance, plus pay for gas, plus pay for anything else car related, plus pay for most htings not car related.

not everyone has to have their parents help them just because of their age.

So i know speed...BE SAFE TO THOSE 2f2f WANNABE RACER 16 YR OLDS and DON'T LET PEER PRESSURE USE U...ITS TEMPTIN YES BUT LIFE AND DEATH IS ONLY A HEARTBEAT AWAY

i am 18 and been saving for a while for an FD, i saved up 8500 dollars, paid my other car loan off ($2000), and went to the bank and got a loan for the remainder of the 14000 dollars i paid for my 93 rx7. i had no help from my parents, with money and i didnt even get a cosigner for my loan and got a decent interest rate (7%). The only think that benifits me is the fact that the car is on my parents insurance policy, and it is a lot cheaper on me (but i pay it). I live at home and go to Syracuse University (chemical engineering) full time while working 20+ hours a week delivering pizza. I havent asked or got a penny from my parents in the past 5 years, unless it was a gift for birthday or something. I feel that people who dont pay for thier own cars and other stuff, dont apreciate it as much as when you do! This is why everyone come down hard on people who have there parents buy them there cars, because they almost always ruin them, and these cars a rare enough to get in good condition. Please people have some self respect and buy your own cars, Mommy and Daddy arent always gonna be there for you!! If you cant afford the car yourself then you shouldnt own it, simple as that!!

Ha. Thats a good one. Have you seen that new commercial out that has this middle aged guy with him saying this is my new car, My 5 bedroom house, my pool, and on and on. Then he says you probably are asking how can I afford all this.. A small pause.. Then he says I'm in debt up to my eyeballs.

It had me ROTF. That sound like my life.

Oh yeah the commercial was for a debt managment co.

and I am 24. USAF and about 60K in debt (just got a 03 Xterra) and proud of it. I should probably get the number off that commercial... Naaa

20. I have the FD and an 89 toyota pickup for a beater. Unfortunately, it's in need of all new brakelines so the FD is temporarily a daily driver.

I'm 27 and wanted to wait 'till I could afford the Inshurance... and even then I was a dumbass, got into a turn that would have been fine.... had it not been for the sand on the road... and wheeee... did a 180 straight off the road and flipped my old FD end over end !!!

So just because you're young doesn't mean you do stupid things, adults do too... but we're ususally a bit more fearfull of truely stupid things....

My 2 Cents....

wow im quite impressed theres such a high percentage of drivers below 20. im almost 20 and over here in the uk, an rx7 is an insurance group 20 (highest group) car, and people dont get insured on this sort of think till there about 24-25, im just very lucky and managed to because i know the owner of an insurance company. the point is though its funny seeing the massive difference between insurance in the UK and US, and quite disturbing that 20% of ppl on here are very young drivers for this sort of car and even if around half crash it then i feel disturbed by the dwindeling numbers of the seven

FB at 16, FC at 18, FD at 21. I'm 22 now.

Was lucky enough to get a 60k job not too long after high school, and able to pay for it myself.

Then the ****** ceo had to make the company go bankrupt and close it down *sigh*
