Can I get a general estimate of how much it would cost to do a complete engine and turbo rebuild. I am currently thinking of saving for a 3rd gen and was wondering about this. Do any of you think I should buy one if it's under $10k? Does this mean there is probably something wrong with it? Thanks for the help all.

 

Don't be fooled by prices. Sometimes people are just hoping to sell a vehicle fast......But get it checked out. I bought my 95 about 2-1/2 years ago for about 500 dollars above what the book value is today.

A rebuild to stock specs including removal and re-install should run you from 4-5K depending on the condition of the motor and engine builder. If you are looking to uy a car soon I would look for one that has low low miles or had an engine rebuild recently. There are FD's out there for 10K or less but be careful of their condition and go to all lengths to have the vehicle checked out.
