3rd gear synchro price ?

Anyone knows how much the synchro for 3rd gear costs for an FD tranny ?

I sometimes have hard time shifting to 3rd if I let it rev to 7.5k RPM in 2nd gear - it's then either grinding or 5th gear.

So, anyone knows of a price for a new synchro ? Or someone has a spare one for sale ?

Thanks!

the upgraded 5th gear synchro is ~18 dollars so it should be similar to that.

Just replacing it is going to be the costly part

Are you sure you aren't missing the gear? Go a little past 7500 one time at full throttle in 2nd and really concentrate. Make sure you have the clutch ALL the way on the floor and put it into 3d pretty quick but make sure you hit it perfect. If it grinds then you were correct.

Ok... I'll double check on that. It strange it always happens when I rev high.

But on the other hand it could be that I'm not pressing the clutch to the floor.

$18 for the synchro ?
That's like a rip-off. The labor would be around $60-100 around here so it's not a big deal.

I drove a supra tt this weekend that had the same problem.
If it was 5th that was grinding it's no big deal but 3d is a gear you'll be going into hard a lot in all types of racing.

It would grind pretty hard even though I was able to get it into the gear without missing I could feel it and it's not the feeling you want. Still not a big deal if you can live with it.

hey 60-100 labor is awesome. I was told that cam from pettit can change out a 5th gear synchro in 45 minutes total but he's done just a couple It should take the place you go to a full day at least.

Well, I may wait and live with it until I replace the clutch. So I don't pay for same labor twice. Where is the best place to get the synchro from ?
