Try to break a 2 mm seal with your fingers , easy right. Try to snap 3mm seal with your fingers not so easy.Do not cut yourself. If 3mm seals offer more drag so what if they are stronger ,I wont all the safety I can get because a mistake tunning can cost so much and 3mm might save it ,maybe

This is what I suggest.

Get the 2mm Racing Apex seals from either Atkins Rotary or Hurley Racing.

Here are the links:

http://www.atkinsrotary.com/newengpr.htm

http://www.hurleyrotary.com/

I believe that 2mm seals are better. 3mm apex seals require that the rotor be machined down 1mm to seat the seal. Why Machine a rotor when you don't need to?

I've seen some HIGH horsepower 13B's here that have lived through 1.4 Kilos pushed by a T-51S with NO water injection and they use Atkins 2 piece apex seals.

If a 550+ bridgeported 13B FC that has drag raced EVERY weekend for a year and has survived STILL with 2mm apex seals...why bother with 3mm?

get two-piece. . . it provides better sealing, and longer rotor housing life. . . . just tine your sh*t right and you wont have to deal with it. haha

easier said than done, huh. haha.

As far as 2mm v 3mm see the Rotary Performance Forum. I won't start it up again here. (The crowd goes wild -----deafening cheers!!!!)

My tired motor only lasted 2 weeks also and like you I blame the lunacy of running a tired motor at high HP for my damage.

With the set up you are talking about, 400 RWHP is totally do-able.

I don't want to be a wet blanket, but when my motor grendaded, it took my brand new apexi RX6 out with it.
Have you checked under the turbine housing (you must remove tha housing) to see the condition of the turbine blades. If they are chewed, the unit is NOT rebuildable and it will cost you at least $1750 and a 5 week wait for a replacement. I you want to spend $2200, you can get one immediately from SR Racing.

Max Cooper had good results with TEC cutting the damage out of the blades and then rebalancing the shaft. I think it cost him around $300. I had a CNC shop do the same thing to mine and it looks and feels good physically, but I am waiting to see how it actually works on my new engine. BTW I had 3mm put on because my builder/tuner STRONGLY encouraged it.
