3-bar Map Sensor Needed?

Do I need a 3 bar map sensor if I'm going to run BNR Stage 3 twin's at ~16 psi?

Is it just because its more accurate? To my understanding the stock sensor can read up to 19 psi.

17 PSi, typo ^_^. So its just a preventive thing in case it boosts over 17. Guess I'll get one, thanks.

after a certain level of boost it doesn't read correctly. i forget the number. i'd say if you're gonna run over stock 12psi then it's a worthwhile investment. OF course you know that you'll have to have it special tuned with the PFC, right? Requires datalogit.

I would get one. I blew a motor with my BNRs and a stock map sensor years ago because I saw boost creep past the limitations of the stock map sensor. GM 3 bars are not expensive......

3 bar really offers that much of protection when running over 15psi?

Not really. However, you can't tune what you can't tune (i.e. if your boost creeps past 17 PSI on the stock MAP sensor, you can't tune as the stock MAP doesn't go any higher). Basically, its not much different than if your car is tuned for 12 PSI and you creep to 16 PSI. If you aren't tuned for it, its a problem no matter what. You really only need a 3bar if you are going to run 17 and over PSI.
